Position Overview
Line Technicians are expected to safely perform all tasks related to the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground facilities (excluding vaults, manholes, and hot compounds). They must be proficient in troubleshooting and repairing distribution circuits and equipment both overhead (OH) and underground (UG), and embrace new technology in the utility field.
Work Environment and Responsibilities
- Work independently or with a lower classification (e.g., Ground Technicians or Apprentice) under supervision, following safety, design standards, and work methods.
- Be available to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, in inclement weather, and travel for emergency restoration.
- Complete an interview, SAT, and a DOT background check/drug screen.
- Reside within 40 minutes of the assigned Operations Complex within 90 days of employment; relocation assistance is not provided.

Working Conditions
- Shift work, overtime, weekends
- Frequent travel
- Indoor and outdoor environments, varying weather conditions

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Verifiable experience as a Journeyman Class 1 or A Level Lineman
- At least 2 years of experience with overhead distribution systems
- Valid Class A CDL
- Completion of a line specialist apprenticeship or equivalent training
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with underground systems and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of line equipment and operation
- Leadership skills for training others
- Knowledge of fault finding, problem solving, and safety procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and safely in diverse environments
Specific Requirements
- Respond to emergencies 24/7
- Lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Work from poles, bucket trucks, or on the ground
- Proficiency with live line maintenance and safety equipment
- Climbing skills and knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Travel and overnight stays as needed
- Residency within 40 minutes of the Operations Center; no relocation assistance
