Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC, one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers, is seeking an forklift operator for a swing shift in WACO, GA. You will assist supervision, operate machinery and support safety, housekeeping and performance. High school diploma and forklift license are required.

Shift: Swing D 6pm-4am or 8pm-6am

Pay Rate $27.50–$29.27

Job Description

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for assisting supervisor in keeping department operating efficiently.
• Responsible for performing supervisory duties as needed.
• Responsible for accommodating the needs of operators as needed.
• Responsible for operating machinery or performing jobs in other departments as needed.
• Responsible for assisting supervision in regard to safety, housekeeping and employee job performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY:

• Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in a manner designed to
• Follow prescribed safety rules/procedures in an effort to prevent injury to self and others.
• Seek the assistance and advice of safety representatives on matters concerning safe practices, policies
• and/or procedures and provide support for all safety committee activity.
• Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
• Report environmental and safety policy violations to supervision/management.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Normal warehouse working conditions, shift schedule may vary.
• Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
• Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to use proper techniques to lift 50-75 pounds.
• Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
• Must obtain a valid forklift truck operator’s license.
• Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and write legibly.
• Able to use word processing tools and computer-based systems.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions explicitly.
• Judgments concerning operation of department are encountered.
• Must have outstanding work habits.
• Must be familiar with warehouse operating systems.
• Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
• Must be able to shift priorities easily.
• Must be able to work well with others.
• Must have good attendance record, and cannot have an active final written warning disciplinary status.
