Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) is hiring a Distribution Groundman to support overhead and underground distribution line construction and maintenance in California. You will assist Linemen, load materials, and help with pole setting and stringing operations, while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires basic construction experience and a valid Class A license; preferred is a Pole Climbing Endorsement training certificate.

Qualifications

• Experience or training with basic construction activities.
• Possess a valid Class A motor vehicle operator's license.
• Preferred: certificate of completion from an SCE-accredited training program with Pole Climbing Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Assist Linemen to gain poles, frame cross-arms, splice wire.
• Load and unload materials; raise material and tools on pole or tower by handline.
• Dismantle material removed from the line and place on trucks.
• Dig holes for poles and anchors; drive ground rods and pull wires to tension.
• Attend winch and reels while stringing wire; operate trucks and power equipment.
• Maintain trails, clear around poles and towers; learn line construction methods.
• Operate vehicles up to 12,000 lb as needed; ensure safety first.
• Perform other manual labor tasks as advised.
