Job description

Verdantas is seeking a Distribution Field Technician for Grand Rapids or Petoskey, MI. This hands‑on role supports field operations, ensuring quality and compliance across infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do

• Map and inventory existing overhead and underground distribution systems in the field, supporting design and providing input on system upgrades.
• Identify system and safety issues in electrical systems, including response to emergency outages caused by storms or technical issues.
• Coordinate pre‑construction meetings between clients and construction contractors.
• Perform construction inspections and spot checks to ensure construction meets design and safety standards.
• Perform post‑construction inspections supporting as‑built documentation and ensuring safe reliable electricity distribution.
• Complete field documentation timely, including JSA forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring, and chain‑of‑custody forms.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed and maintain strong communication with office staff.

What You Bring

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of lineman apprenticeship program and a Department of Labor Journeyman certificate.
• 2‑5 years of experience with electric overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and equipment (transformers, insulators, switches, conductors, elbows, and tees).
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and electrical plans.
• Capability to work primarily outdoors, occasional office tasks.
• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. and, optionally, ability to climb poles.
• Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Salary Range

$24 – $27 per hour.
