Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor passionate about electric utility design engineering. You will work directly with clients to ensure Leidos' reputation for high‑quality work is always maintained. Experience in NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards will be essential.

Hybrid Work Model

This position follows a hybrid work model: three days per week in the office collaborating with internal teams and two days per week working remotely.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5–8 engineers to develop design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV‑138kV).
• Oversee onboarding, performance, and day‑to‑day assignments of direct reports.
• Act as technical lead, training junior engineers, designers, and entry‑level technicians on engineering calculations and constructability concerns.
• Work with Engineering Manager to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Review client‑provided work and communicate progress, technical issues, and schedule to the client.
• Comply with Leidos and client safety requirements and design quality expectations.
• Develop permitting documents for various AHJs.
• Coordinate with permit agencies, right‑of‑way specialists, system owners, field and forestry personnel, and third‑party owners for joint‑owned poles.
• Travel to sites and customer meetings as needed.
• Perform engineering calculations: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, conductor sag and tension specifications, voltage drop, flicker, and fault currents.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews of engineering work for client submission.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post‑construction reviews to confirm compliance with all applicable standards.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of outages and develop mitigation plans.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution; additional experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Proficiency with NESC Standards, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and Bluebeam or Adobe.
• Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida‑Calc, O‑Calc, DDS, and SAP.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong detail orientation when reviewing engineering designs.
• Experience monitoring scopes and tracking others’ work progress.
• Willingness to perform both office and field work; overnight travel may be required (15–25% travel).
• Ability to work in outdoor environments.
• Ability to use a personal vehicle for customer‑related travel (reimbursed at IRS‑approved rates).
• Experience with ESRI GIS preferred but not required.
• Prior team leadership experience is a plus.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $73,450.00 – $132,775.00
