Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer for our Fort Worth or Tyler, TX offices. You will work within the Power & Energy Distribution Services Team to design medium voltage distribution systems and create construction-ready drawings while meeting safety, budget, and schedule constraints.

You will assist in project scoping, cost estimation, and coordination with clients, regulators, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in electrical engineering designing medium voltage power distribution systems.
• Engineer in Training Certification required.
• Proficiency in GISWorks’ Distribution Design Studio (DDS).
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design and construction management.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand permitting requirements.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and safety practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for medium voltage distribution systems (120/240V–24.9kV).
• Produce construction-ready drawings using DDS, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
• Prepare data, tables, charts, and reports for design review and presentations.
• Assist with project scoping, budgeting, and cost estimation.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations to address engineering issues.
• Collaborate with engineers and drafters to ensure specifications and standards are met.
