Distribution Desktop Inspector for Utility Company in California

Responsibilities

You will provide analysis and evaluations of drone and helicopter data from flights above and around our electric towers, poles, and substations.

Reviewed drone photos and identified any non-conformities of overhead distribution structures: Wood poles, Tubular Steel Poles (TSPs), and Light Duty Steel Poles (LDSPs).

Review drone photograph data and complete a detailed inspection form and as required write notification. Identify safety and/or maintenance issues. Evaluate their strength, durability, and quality.

  • Analysis and review of structures include:
  • Reviewed drone photos and identified any non-conformities
  • Insulators, conductors, hardware, accessories and associated failure modes
  • Design of transmission line steel structures, components, foundations and their related failure modes
  • Steel coatings, corrosion and remediation measures
  • Electric transmission, breakers, switches
  • Guy wire systems components and functions, foundations and hardware

Requirements:

  • Industry standards relating to distribution pole inspections
  • Quality Electrical Worker (QEM) - Required
  • Distribution structures: wood poles, TSPs, and LDSPs.
  • Utility transmission & distribution construction projects
  • Inspection of utility poles for safety concerns
  • Guy wire system components and functions
  • Steel coatings, corrosion, and remediation measures
  • Previous Inspector, Project Manager, Field Engineer, or T&D Lineman preferred.
  • Good computer skills including Teams, Excel, File Management, and Office 365

Location: Work from home in the U.S.

Duration: Project duration is 12 months with possibility for an annual extension in 2025.

Compensation: Regular and overtime pay, health benefits (Medical/Vision/Dental options), 401k, and PTO/Holidays.
