Distribution Designer - Southwest Pennsylvania and Surrounding States

Join Orbital Engineering, Inc. as a Distribution Designer supporting projects in Southwestern Pennsylvania. This role offers a REMOTE WORK arrangement, but candidates must reside within Southwestern Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northeastern West Virginia, or Northwestern Maryland to perform field data collection and design duties.

Orbital Engineering has over 50 years of experience in engineering, inspection, and construction solutions, focusing on building trusted relationships, innovation, and excellence. Our Utility Services Department collaborates with utility and communication companies on joint use pole attachments, distribution engineering design, and system improvement programs.

The Distribution Designer will support pole attachment applications, power delivery improvements, and analyze requests for attachment and reliability enhancements. Responsibilities include field inspections, applying safety and client standards, data analysis, software utilization, client communication, documentation, and occasional fieldwork in various weather and terrain conditions. Travel and client interactions are expected.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of relevant experience or an Associate's Degree with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design/business software.
  • Effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and ability to pass a fit-for-duty and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, electrical distribution assets, and construction software (e.g., AutoCAD, DDS).
  • Experience with pole loading software and safety practices.
