Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks a Distribution Designer to join our Power Delivery Engineering team in Arizona or the Southwest region. The role involves independent work on fast-paced, technically complex design projects, preparing field notes, specifications and drawings for routing and execution of distribution-level work.

The candidate will develop detailed overhead/underground designs, coordinate with teams, conduct site visits, and ensure compliance with codes and prudent design practices.

Qualifications

• Drafting diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent; or 8+ years drafting/design with two years as a Designer.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with ProjectWise document management software.
• Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus.
• Strong client focus and excellent English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs of overhead and/or underground distribution systems.
• Coordinate design activities to meet schedules, budgets and quality requirements.
• Perform site visits, system walkdowns, estimating, and project meetings.
• Provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Design distribution construction packages and select equipment using GIS data.
• Prepare specifications for material and equipment selection.
• Deliver accurate electrical designs meeting industry standards and prudent design practices.
• Review designs for code compliance and constructability.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline project team members.
• Provide construction support during field implementation and site inspections.
• Maintain project documentation for design packages and as-built data.
