Job summary

Omaha Public Power District is seeking a Distribution Engineer II to design, analyze, permit, and support distribution upgrades in a dynamic utility environment.

You will work on customer-driven projects, balancing reliability with cost-effectiveness while progressing toward licensure. A BS in Engineering and 2 years of engineering experience are required, with EIT/PE or related certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • Two years of engineering experience; co-op/internship or master's can count.
  • Effective communication and ability to summarize data.
  • General engineering knowledge and utility industry understanding.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering, design, analysis, cost estimates, and permitting for distribution projects
  • Apply engineering judgment to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective system modifications
  • Provide clear communication of technical findings and recommendations to diverse audiences
  • Support customer service by coordinating project needs with prudent design requirements
  • Maintain understanding of codes, standards, and internal procedures
  • Strengthen professional capabilities through ongoing development toward licensure
