Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Distribution Design Engineer to design and upgrade electric distribution systems. The role involves creating construction plans, work packages and BOMs while owning field work with measurements, notes, and photos to support project execution.

The engineer will perform engineering calculations and use GIS, CAD, and WMS in client systems to size transformers, analyze voltage drop, and coordinate protective devices, with about 15% travel for site meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
0-2 years of experience with an electric utility or electric utility consulting.
Must be comfortable in both field and office settings.

Responsibilities

Create work packages and construction plans for electric distribution projects.
Develop bill of materials and manage scope or work schedule.
Own field work including notes, pictures, measurements and on-site design of construction plans.
Use GIS, CAD, WMS and client systems to develop engineering calculations.
Perform calculations such as pole structural analysis, conductor sizing, voltage drop and coordination of protective devices.
