Job description

This position trims, tops, and reshapes trees to remove low-hanging, dead, and excess branches, providing clearance for utility powerlines.

STARTING PACKAGE BETWEEN $28.17 - 40.61/hour

Job Type: Full-Time +, Non-Exempt

Pay: Competitive, Hourly

Essential Functions

  1. Trims and/or removes trees, branches, trunk sections
  2. Operates and services all required tools/equipment.
  3. Cuts and splits large debris into manageable pieces.
  4. Sprays areas with equipment to prevent further growth.
  5. Loads/unloads trucks.
  6. Feeds brush & debris into wood chippers.
  7. Repairs minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
  8. Services gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment.
  9. Relays hand signals, directs traffic, drives, and operates trucks and equipment, as assigned.
  10. Keeps trucks and work areas clean and orderly.
  11. Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  12. Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  13. Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
  14. Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
  15. Assists in training new employees.
  16. Assumes responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
  17. Requests repair or replacement, when necessary.
  18. Maintains good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
  19. Performs other related work, as assigned by superiors.
  20. Must affiliate with the local union.
Education & Experience
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Pre-Screen
  1. Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications:
  1. Driver's License required.
Physical Requirements:

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.

As a full-service utility contractor, Asplundh performs tree pruning and removals, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides, emergency storm work, and logistical support.
