Job summary

AutoZone, Inc. is seeking a DC Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives at our distribution center in Providence Forge, VA. You will train teams, conduct incident investigations, and drive data‑driven safety programs to reduce risks and improve compliance.

You will serve as the safety expert, perform facility inspections, and collaborate with regional managers to promote proactive safety strategies and continual improvement.

Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
1–2 years in Loss Prevention or Occupational Health & Safety.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to analyze data and translate insights into action.
Proactive mindset and a passion for safety.

Responsibilities

Lead Safety Training Programs: deliver new hire safety training, refresher courses, and vehicle training.
Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Analyze injury trend data to reduce incident rates and improve safety.
Serve as the safety expert for the DC, providing guidance and injury analysis reports.
Inspect facilities, identify hazards, and drive safety improvements.
Oversee security operations in the absence of the Loss Prevention Manager.
Collaborate with regional staff and managers to promote safety awareness.
Lead safety-related projects from development to evaluation for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:
Lead Safety Training Programs
Deliver engaging new hire safety training, annual refresher courses, powered industrial vehicle training, and post‑incident retraining.
Investigate & Innovate
Conduct thorough accident and injury investigations, facilitate reenactments, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Analyze & Act
Use injury trend data to develop targeted action plans that reduce incident rates and improve workplace safety.
Be the Safety Expert
Serve as the go‑to safety resource for your DC and the regions it supports, providing guidance, training, and injury analysis reports every period.
Inspect & Improve
Perform regular facility inspections, identify hazards, and lead initiatives to eliminate unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Support Security Operations
Oversee physical and personnel security in the absence of the Loss Prevention Manager, including fire prevention systems and property protection programs.
Collaborate Across Teams
Partner with regional staff, District Managers, and Store Managers to promote safety awareness and drive proactive safety strategies.
Lead Special Projects
Spearhead safety‑related projects, from development to evaluation, ensuring continuous improvement in safety performance.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent formal training in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
Fluent in Spanish a plus
1–2 years of experience in Loss Prevention or Occupational Health & Safety
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to analyze data and translate insights into action
