Job summary

Maxwood Furniture in Marion, SC is seeking an experienced HR Manager to serve as the on-site HR partner for the warehouse, coordinating with corporate HR in Charleston. This role requires hands-on leadership in employee relations, compliance, and operational HR support.

You will coach leaders, manage investigations and policy implementation, and ensure smooth onboarding and records management while fostering a collaborative, compliant workplace culture aligned with our growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including independently managing complex employee relations matters.
• Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, logistics, or blue-collar operational environments.
• Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, employment law; OSHA familiarity preferred.
• Experience with investigations, performance management, corrective action, and manager coaching.
• Sound judgment and composure with the ability to confidently handle difficult or sensitive situations.
• Collaborative, approachable, and comfortable operating independently while partnering closely with leadership.

Role Overview

The HR Manager serves as the primary on-site HR partner for our Marion warehouse, supporting employees and warehouse leadership while working closely with our corporate HR team in Charleston. This is a hands-on role for a seasoned HR professional who can independently navigate complex employee relations and compliance matters while bringing sound judgment, composure, and a highly collaborative approach to the team.

Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Leadership Support

• Serve as the primary HR partner for warehouse leaders and employees across employee relations, performance, attendance, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.
• Independently manage complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations, including documentation and corrective action.
• Coach managers on people leadership, accountability, performance management, and consistent application of company policies.
• Maintain a calm, objective, and practical approach to difficult conversations and high-pressure situations.

Compliance & HR Operations

• Manage FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and other employee leave and compliance processes.
• Identify potential employment or compliance risks and partner with HR leadership and Legal when appropriate.

• Partner with leadership on staffing, retention, training, engagement, and workplace culture.
• Promote consistent HR practices and strong collaboration between warehouse leadership, employees, and corporate HR.
