The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to perform the fast-paced work required to run the distribution center efficiently, safely, and productively. This role manages team members under supervision and is responsible for ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, as well as developing and implementing team goals. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates, with management responsibilities for 20 to 30 associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Process (45%): Ensures operational procedures are followed effectively, recommends changes to improve processes, and evaluates work methods to eliminate inefficiencies.
- Coaching and Developing Associates (25%): Guides associates in daily operations, monitors productivity, safety, service, and quality. Responsible for training, coaching, feedback, and regular evaluations. Handles hiring, discipline, and terminations.
- Driving Results (15%): Maintains inventory accuracy, reviews reports, and identifies areas for improvement in productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
- Business Planning (15%): Coordinates operations to meet performance targets, reviews reports, and plans staffing needs.
- Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Reporting Structure
- Typically reports to the Operations Manager.
- Supervises 20-30 hourly associates, including planning, monitoring, and reviewing work, as well as making recommendations on hiring, performance, and development.
Additional Details
- Travel: Less than 10% overnight travel.
- Physical Requirements: Includes walking, standing, lifting, and other physical activities.
- Working Conditions: Indoor environment, infrequent unpleasant conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
- 18+ years old, authorized to work in the U.S.
- Flexible with shifts and able to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, computer skills, warehouse management experience, 3+ years supervisory experience.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED, 2 years of work experience.
