Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage seeks a data analyst to analyze data for frequency sets, cross-tabulation, demographics, and regression analyses. You will work with staff to develop valid statistical approaches and methodologies for data and analysis, and provide reports on findings.

The role includes supervising staff to meet grant goals and program objectives and requires experience in public health or related fields with strong statistical capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Public/Business Administration, Economics, Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, or related field; four years in public health, criminal/justice/public safety; two years in research/statistical analysis.
• Substitute: High school diploma or equivalent with related experience; may substitute for Bachelor's degree on year-for-year basis.
• Substitute: Postgraduate education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Public/Business Administration, Economics, Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, or related field appropriate to the position, and four years experience of professional level in public health, criminal/justice/law enforcement/public safety experience, two years of which must have been in the area of research and/or statistical analysis.

Substitute: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and any combination of post-secondary education or progressively responsible experience in public health, public/business administration, economics, justice, criminology, sociology, psychology, or related field appropriate to the positionmay substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

NOTICE

The processing fee of $54.25 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable), is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.

Ability to design and analyze data sets and cross-tabulation of variables. Ability to work with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), Access Database, and/or time series software programs.
