Job summary

Apogee Architectural Metals, a segment of Apogee Enterprises, is seeking Distribution Team members to safely pick, sort, and prepare materials for shipment. The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to procedures, and teamwork in a cross-functional distribution environment.

The position requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and using measuring tools. A strong attendance record and reliable transportation are essential to succeed in this manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Read and follow work instructions and blueprints.
• Demonstrate basic math and measurement skills.
• Read micrometers and calipers when required.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Order Picker: select and prepare items for shipment.
• Sort and prioritize pick orders to meet schedules.
• Document orders with sales numbers and quantities.
• Audit cradles for accuracy and prepare for shipping.
• Band and package completed orders for shipment.
• Operate slot punch and material handling equipment as assigned.
• Verify material for each truck and load cradles using a Hilo.

Job Overview

Distribution Team members are cross trained in a variety of roles that include; Order Picker, Truck Loader, Slot Punch and Material Handler. The Distribution team works together to pile down, pick, punch, pack and ship materials to clients and finisher.

The Distribution team wears required PPE: safety glasses, steel toe shoes, cut resistant gloves, ear plugs, and cap/hat; and when required, hard hat. The team works safely to ensure that employees do not incur bodily harm.

The team uses care and respect to ensure that tools, equipment and/or property is not damaged. The team works together to keep the work area clean. All Team members are cross trained to perform all job functions within 6 months in the role along with a valid PIV license. All Team Members are responsible for following documented procedures as well as handling and inspection to ensure product is not damaged and meets or exceeds established product specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Order Picker
• Sort pick orders based on priority, type and schedule to ensure all orders are completed on time.
• Working with a teammate, locate and pick error-free orders as scheduled.
• Document completed orders with sales number, cradle and quantity.
• Audit cradles to ensure accuracy.
• Band completed orders in preparation for shipment.
• Scrap product per scrap procedure when necessary.
• Utilizing reports, locate missing/late material, and take necessary steps to ensure product is shipped per schedule.
• Unload ovens and pile down when available.
• Truck Loader
• Verify work orders to identify correct materials for each truck.
• Load cradles into trucks using a Hilo.
• Document cradle number and weight along with other details on the shipping documents.
• Scrap product per scrap procedure when necessary.
• Utilizing reports, locate missing/late material and take necessary steps to ensure product is shipped per schedule.
• Unload ovens and pile down when available.
• Slot Punch Operator
• Verify correct punch dies for sales orders.
• Notify Maintenance when punch dies or equipment need to be repaired.
• Select and punch extrusions on slot punch machine per schedule. Stage punched extrusions in identified area.
• Document completed work orders and returned to Scheduling.
• Scrap product per scrap procedure when necessary
• Utilizing reports, locate missing/late material and take necessary steps to ensure product is shipped per schedule.
• Unload ovens and pile down when available.
• Material Handler
• Unload all age ovens.
• Using cradle documentation, pile down extruded material to correct locations
• Measure material hardness and document per procedure.
• Scrap product per scrap procedure when necessary.
• Using reports, locate missing/late material and take the necessary steps to ensure product is shipped per schedule.
