Salesforce.com, inc. is looking for a Distributed Systems Software Engineer - GovCloud (Senior/Lead) to innovate and maintain a large-scale distributed systems engineering platform. The role requires deep experience in backend software development, with proficiency in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby. Strong skills in agile methodologies and AI tool usage are essential for optimizing development workflows.
Our Public Cloud engineering teams are responsible for innovating and maintaining a large‑scale distributed systems engineering platform that ships hundreds of features to production for tens of millions of users across all industries every day. Our users count on our platform to be highly reliable, lightning fast, supremely secure, and to preserve all of their customizations and integrations every time we ship.
The role requires deep experience with concurrency, large‑scale systems, and solving real‑world data‑management challenges. You must have a strong understanding of how to craft solutions that are highly available, and a proven ability to design, develop, and optimize core back‑end systems. Advanced prompt engineering skills – the ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate the system context that makes AI outputs reliable, secure, and production‑ready – are also required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen operating on U.S. soil with the ability to meet customer and government screening standards, including a Criminal Justice Information Services screening with fingerprint scan. Citizenship will be verified through two REAL‑ID Act documents: U.S. Passport, Passport Card, REAL Driver’s License, Global Entry Card, or U.S. Government CAC/PIV.

In the United States, compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, job level, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 – $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range is $178,900 – $285,800 annually. The range represents base salary only and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits, as applicable.
