Job description

Job Description

This role is for an experienced DevOps engineer to join a team of highly skilled Systems, Site Reliability, and DevOps Engineers working on service availability and performance for Salesforce’s Government Cloud infrastructure. The goal is to ensure maximum availability of Salesforce’s Government Cloud infrastructure through proactive enhancements, adept troubleshooting and ensuring security compliance, while also providing advanced prompt engineering for reliable AI outputs.

In this role:
  • You are strong in solving infrastructure related problems with code, focusing on reusability, and have mastered building compute capacity and working on Kubernetes deployments at scale. You will lead key projects in design, development, and post‑release support of the Salesforce platform and tools used by a variety of internal teams to support government customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to iterate automated CI/CD pipelines, maintain service owner feature velocity, and solve and reproduce issues reported in production environments.
  • Build and ship high‑quality, production‑grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow by pushing the boundaries of AI development tools to deliver secure, optimized, and high‑quality code.
  • Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining the shared system context, an explicit repository of system designs, constraints, and standards that enables AI to operate accurately and reliably.
  • Critically evaluate code (human or AI‑generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
  • Demonstrate a sense of autonomy and ownership of your areas, proactively taking accountability for progress forward.
  • Gain insight into large‑scale production infrastructure within third‑party cloud service providers.
  • Transform heavily manual processes into automated governance solutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Improve influence and collaboration skills while working with various infrastructure teams across Salesforce.
  • Interact with a highly innovative and creative team of developers, open‑source committers, and architects.
  • Research and select the right tools for the job, and if they don’t exist, create them.
Requirements:
  • Proven expertise in AWS environments, including infrastructure build and optimization. Skilled in IaaS‑based TCP/IP networking protocols and associated components such as transit gateways, VPCs, security groups, and route tables.
  • 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE).
  • 3+ years development experience in Infrastructure as Code and configuration management such as Terraform and/or Ansible.
  • 3+ years Linux system engineering experience.
  • 2+ years developing or managing infrastructure and application security for highly sensitive customer data & environments (IAM, CI/CD, PKI).
  • 3+ years experience deploying with a CI orchestration service (Spinnaker, Jenkins).
  • 2+ years scripting/programming experience (Shell, Python, Golang).
  • Experience with log management and analytics tools such as Splunk or ELK.
  • A demonstrated, genuine AI‑first approach to engineering, using AI to move faster and build fluency across the stack.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor) in development workflows.
  • Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to write precise, structured prompts that cultivate reliable, secure, and production‑ready AI outputs.
  • Strong analytical skills and dedication to ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities with proficiency in written and oral communication.
Nice to Haves:
  • Background in production service management, including on‑call/PagerDuty rotations and monitoring/alerting of service‑specific SLIs and SLOs.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, etc.
  • Experience developing security & compliance into pipelines (e.g., OPA, Checkov, Twistlock, Prisma).
