Job summary

Orion is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer for an on-site role in San Francisco. You will scale our MQTT infrastructure, own major architecture decisions, and build the cloud platform that enables Orion hardware to communicate securely at scale.

This is a hands-on role for a generalist software engineer with experience in scaling 0-1 IoT systems and a passion for fast, autonomous development in a zero-bureaucracy culture.

This is a full-time on-site role located in San Francisco for a Distributed Systems Engineer, IoT. You will be responsible for scaling our MQTT infrastructure, owning major architecture decisions, and building the cloud platform on which Orion hardware communicates. If you are a generalist software engineer that has experience scaling out of 0-1 IoT systems, this role is for you.

Orion is a personalized smart mattress cover that tracks your sleep and uses AI to cool and heat your body to the perfect core body temperature cycle. The mattress cover has embedded sensors that track biological signals such as heart rate and breath rate, turning that into advanced sleep insights without the need of a wearable.
