Job summary

DISCO is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Austin to shape and evolve our architecture using Distributed Domain Driven Design. You will guide teams in best practices, drive architecture quality attributes, and influence decisions across data platforms and services.

You will lead the design and operation of data-intensive, distributed systems, collaborating with stakeholders and leveraging CI/CD automation to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with high volume distributed architectures focusing on reliability and availability.
• Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g., ElasticSearch, NoSQL, Kafka or similar).
• Experience with infrastructure services and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architecture Leadership: defines and evolves architecture using distributed domain-driven design principles.
• Leads platform capability improvements and drives automation/tooling for architecture descriptions.
• Communicates complex tech concepts to diverse audiences and aligns stakeholders on architectural decisions.
