Would you like to contribute to California’s ambitious clean energy and climate goals? The CPUC's Customer Generation team is working to achieve the state’s greenhouse gas reduction targets while maintaining safe, reliable service, lowering electric rates and increasing the role of distributed energy resources (DERs) to the benefit ratepayers.
This position offers a leadership role in shaping and overseeing the orderly wind-down of the Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) - a program that offered incentives to encourage adoption of distributed energy storage and storage-paired solar.
We are seeking creative, dynamic, independent thinkers with a growth mindset—individuals who thrive on challenges, are eager to learn, and continuously seek opportunities to develop new skills. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of critical statewide programs in distributed customer generation. This section values strong quantitative analytic skills, effective communication, and a collaborative mindset. If clean energy, environmental sustainability, and responsible stewardship is your passion, we encourage you to apply.
Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor and as part of a team, the analyst will work on both policy development as well as program implementation, and collaborate with other Energy Division groups to ensure consistency and coordination across programs and policy. The analyst will conduct original research on highly complex and technical problems; will take lead responsibility in managing work products; organize stakeholder meetings and workshops; summarize positions on policy proposals; assist Administrative Law Judges with developing a record and drafting proceeding documents; and conduct legislative analysis on proposed bills.
Additionally, the analyst will develop recommendations for the CPUC’s policy-setting rulemakings, review and provide feedback on proposed legislation, manage technical contractors, and oversee the implementation of programs resulting from CPUC and legislative processes. The role will involve both team collaboration and individual leadership responsibilities.
