Job description

Job Title: Senior DCS Engineer – DeltaV (Multiple Openings)
Location: Houston, TX (on-site; relocation assistance available)
Travel: Under 10%.
About the Role:

A long-established provider of process control and safety solutions in Houston is adding several experienced DeltaV engineers to its control systems group. In this role, you’ll lead DCS projects from concept to completion: designing the system, building and testing the configuration, and keeping schedules on track with project managers and partner teams. The company is also standing up a life sciences group to support major new pharmaceutical plant builds in the Houston area, so batch and regulated-industry experience will be in high demand. A 9/80 schedule is available, giving you every other Friday off.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead DeltaV DCS projects across the full lifecycle: front-end design, configuration, FAT/SAT, startup and turnover
  • Build control strategies ranging from basic regulatory loops to complex sequencing and batch applications
  • Develop and refine operator graphics, I/O databases, and alarm management schemes
  • Configure and integrate safety instrumented systems, burner management, and PLC/SCADA interfaces where projects call for it
  • Plan and carry out DeltaV version upgrades, legacy system migrations, and custom third-party interfaces
  • Assign tasks to project engineers, track progress, and keep deliverables on schedule
  • Work with project managers and other disciplines on roadmaps, milestones, and change orders
  • Troubleshoot process control issues alongside customer plant and controls engineers
  • Serve as the technical point of contact with software and hardware vendors to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Document applications to established programming standards and best practices
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of hands-on Emerson DeltaV DCS engineering experience
  • A proven record of leading your own DCS projects, including technical design, configuration, testing, and delegating work to others
  • Experience managing schedules, deliverables, and change orders with project managers and cross-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of virtualized DCS environments and industrial network architecture
  • Strong communication skills with customers, leadership, and sales teams
Nice to Have:
  • DeltaV Batch, ISA-88 (S88), or pharmaceutical / life sciences experience
  • GMP or validated-environment experience (IQ/OQ, computer system validation)
  • DeltaV SIS, burner management, or alarm rationalization experience
  • Migration experience from legacy Fisher PROVOX or RS3 systems
  • Exposure to other DCS/PLC platforms (Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB 800xA, Foxboro, PlantPAx, Triconex, Siemens, Modicon)
  • Industry experience beyond oil & gas, such as pulp & paper, chemical, manufacturing, or pharma
