Job summary

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) seeks a DISTRIBUTED COMPUTER SYSTEMS ANALYST to administer distributed computer systems and provide 1st/2nd level support for desktops and peripherals in the Division of Information Systems Administration. The role requires strong technical skills in Windows, SCCM, and Exchange, plus ITIL and security best practices.

Based in Tallahassee, the analyst will work within the Bureau of Service Operations and collaborate with IT

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment.
  • Experience with Windows OS and desktop productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with Exchange/Outlook and SCCM for deployment.
  • Understanding ITIL concepts and security best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position reports to the Desktop Operations Manager within the Bureau of Service Operations and is responsible for providing systems administration, as well as 1st and 2nd tier support within the Desktop Operations team, which provides installation, implementing, maintaining, and supporting distributed computer systems and peripherals, including hardware, software, and communications components. This team supports the department’s desktops / laptops and related peripherals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems.
  • A bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college or university (or) completion of a two-year program of study from a vocational / technical school or accredited community college in a computer science field (or) two years’ experience working in a distributed systems environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Systems Center/SCCM.
  • Experience using enterprise data protection and/or encryption solutions.
  • Experience using Active Directory.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10 or higher.
  • Experience with desktop and laptop hardware/configuration repairs.
  • Experience installing and supporting Windows Operating Systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical incidents locally and remotely.
  • Experience working on a technology team.

Job Related Requirements

  • A Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all applicants’ criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
  • This position is subject to on-call and call-back to work, seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day, as needed, in the event of an outage or emergency, and is eligible for overtime pay.
  • Selected candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

General Information

  • The state of Florida hires only U.S. citizens and lawfully authorized alien workers.   • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation
  • Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • In accordance with Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, male applicants who were required to register with the Selective Service System must provide proof of registration or documentation verifying exemption status during the hiring process.
    The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
