Job description

The Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation (CiTi) is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Distance Learning Coordinator to lead, manage, and grow distance learning services across our component districts. This individual will play a critical role in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating distance learning programs while fostering collaborative relationships with school districts, regional agencies, and other stakeholders. The Distance Learning Coordinator will play an integral role in the Synergy Virtual Learning Service at CiTi BOCES with a focus on Synergy Virtual Tutoring.

Location: Position may be remote dependent on the qualifications and location of the candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Title Specific:

  • Provide leadership in professional development, program and service development, data analysis, and program evaluation.
  • Stay current and responsive to regional, state, and national trends in education.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, comprehensive services.
  • Maintain a professional, efficient, and effective work environment.
  • Comply with all CiTi policies and procedures.

Program Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor program budgets.
  • Coordinate purchasing of supplies, equipment, and technology.
  • Collaborate with districts to assess needs and determine resource allocation.
  • Negotiate with vendors and consultants to ensure cost-effective decision-making.
  • Market CiTi distance learning programs to component districts.
  • Seek out and secure alternative funding sources.
  • Collaborate with school districts and CiTi departments to identify instructional needs.
  • Design, facilitate, and evaluate professional development in various formats.
  • Promote and integrate research-based best practices.
  • Represent CiTi in state and regional educational organizations.
  • Serve as a liaison with NYSED and other professional entities.
  • Act as point of contact among program partners, including schools, hospitals, families, and technical staff.
  • Develop and implement new distance learning programs aligned with district needs.
  • Create and maintain user manuals and training resources to support effective technology use.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Synergy Virtual Tutoring Service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State Teacher Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience, ideally with specialization in computer science, technology, or data systems.
  • Experience in configuration/management of distance learning or computer network systems, particularly those involving fiber optics.
  • Strong working knowledge of distance learning platforms and technologies. Proficiency in communication, instruction, organization, and leadership.
  • Required or actively pursuing:
    • Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) certification.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience in a school or virtual learning environment.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
