Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as role models, demonstrating genuine care, and setting high standards for the pharmacy team. As a DSP, you support our pharmacy teams by covering pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). You will work across stores in the district, overseeing pharmacy operations and supporting the management of the pharmacy team.

The DSP’s responsibilities include:

1. Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizations.
2. Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC).
3. Overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
4. Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety protocols.
5. Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s duties when serving as the primary pharmacist-on-duty.
6. Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues.
7. Offering and delivering immunizations to keep patients healthy, and supporting pharmacy technicians in immunization procedures.
8. Managing pharmacy inventory effectively, with a focus on protecting cold chain products.
9. Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team environment.
10. Maintaining and expanding clinical and technical skills through ongoing training and CME opportunities.
11. Supporting access to care through clinical services such as testing and prescribing (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible.
12. Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and a secure workplace.
