Job summary

Steampunk seeks a Disruption Designer to guide government clients through our Design Intelligence framework using human-centered design thinking to focus on people affected by transformation. You will engage stakeholders to embrace new ways of working while identifying and mitigating resistance within an Agile environment.

Responsibilities include discovery, framing problems, crafting change narratives, and developing communication, pilot, and training plans aligned with strategic transformation

Qualifications

  • Experience in change management best practices and models.
  • Experience conducting user and stakeholder interviews and synthesizing data into personas and training plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to frame problems and determine change readiness and resistance.

  • Synthesize research into stories and presentations to communicate insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and deploy communication, pilot, and training plans with stakeholders and customers.
  • Develop and deploy change management plans for organizational and workflow improvements.
  • Develop, deploy, and measure KPIs for transformation and adoption.
  • Collaborate within an agile, cross-functional team to align on requirements and outcomes.

Job description

As a Disruption Designer , you will be responsible for guiding government clients through our Design Intelligence™ framework ; incorporating human-centered and design thinking methods to focus on the people impacted by transformation and change engaging them to embrace and adapt to new ways of working while identifying and mitigating areas of resistance.

Contributions
  • Participate in all aspects of discovery to understand client mission and goals; stakeholders, users and their ecosystems; current state journeys; user segments; program , project, and transformation objectives
  • Conduct workshops and interviews to frame pain points and opportunities ; define problem statements and determine change readiness and areas of resistance
  • S ynthesize research and data and c raft compelling stories and presentations to communicate insights and recommendations that will shape transformation and change enablement
  • Develop and deploy communication plans , pilot plans, and training plans in partnership with key stakeholders and their customers
  • Develop and deploy change management plans that articulate actionable recommendations for organizational and workflow improvement
  • Develop, deploy, and measure key performance indicators for transformation and adoption
  • Collaborate and communicate stakeholder and user needs on a cross functional team within an agile environment
  • Understand and embrace the specifications and constraints of a given technology, platform and/or operational environment and understand how change management should be integrated into technological considerations
  • Ensure all deliverables across a variety of projects are produced at the highest quality
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance
  • 4 + years of experience in change management and well-versed in c hange m anagement best practices and models
  • Demonstrated e xperience in current state assessments , future state visioning and communication planning
  • Demonstrated e xperience conducting user and stakeholder interviews and synthesizing data and insights into personas, action, and training plans
  • A natural curiosity for solving problems coupled with strong analytical skills
  • A collaborative nature with excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working in a project-based environment
  • Degree, equivalent experience, and/or certification in change management
Bonus Points
  • Previous work experience in or with the federal government
  • Previous work experience as a consultant
  • Experience in Human-Centered Design / Customer Experience Design
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary , cross-functional teams including Service Designers, UX and UI designers, technologists, data scientists, engineers, and solution architects
  • Experience working within an Agile delivery framework including writing user stories and story pointing
  • Ability to obtain DOD tier 3 clearance

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $85,000 to $150,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
