About the Job

Position Description:

This position plays an important role in ensuring dental instruments are available to students, as well as being clean and sterile up to health industry standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Checking out instrument kits, individual instruments, sundries, etc., to students at the beginning of each clinic session using the School's electronic records system (axiUm).
  • Checking out items to students during clinic sessions.
  • Maintaining organization of the dispensary.
  • Replenishing stock, rotating for expiration dates.
  • Documenting items needed for restocking.
  • Checking returned items for completeness, cleanliness, and breakage.
  • Processing items for sterilization, including processing/oiling handpieces and replenishing bur blocks/kits.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on instruments and handpieces.
  • Recommending replacement of unserviceable items.
  • Operating sterilizers and washers, performing tests to ensure proper operation.

Note: Work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Hours may vary based on department needs. Healthcare position. Bargaining unit consideration begins on 4/3/2025 and ends on 4/10/2025.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Central Sterile Processing training program or three months experience as Hospital Central Services Technician or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand for entire shift, lift 40 pounds, bend and stoop repeatedly, and use a ladder.
  • Reliable attendance.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Familiarity with dental instruments, supplies, and sundries.

Pay and Benefits
