Job summary

Acme Brick Company in Texas is seeking a Dispatcher with strong organization and a people-friendly approach to schedule and manage all deliveries, ensuring products arrive at job sites when needed. You will coordinate outbound and inbound deliveries from yards or plants and may supervise drivers and forklift operators.

This safety-sensitive role requires reliable service, the ability to communicate with customers and colleagues, and a commitment to accurate record-keeping and process adherence

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel; JDE experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule outbound deliveries to jobsites and transfers to other locations; oversee delivery of inbound deliveries to local yards or plants.
  • Communicate with customers, associates and management regarding shipments, service issues and resolutions.
  • Estimate delivery dates based on production and delivery schedules.
  • Receive brick, stone and other masonry materials into inventory via the operating system.
  • Enter and maintain records in computer systems for inventory, purchasing and shipping.

DISPATCHER - PRODUCTION

Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. company) is an organization of professionals in the building materials manufacturing and distribution industry. We manufacture and distribute clay brick and concrete block, and sell and distribute associated products manufactured by others. We operate in 13 states with a philosophy that we are much more than a brick manufacturer and distributor.

Summary

We are currently seeking a “best in class” Dispatcher with excellent organization skills and a personable disposition to schedule and manage all deliveries thereby insuring products arrive at jobsite when needed. You will also coordinate other outbound and inbound deliveries from sales yards or plants. May also provide direction and supervision to drivers and forklift operators. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to roll with the punches, being flexible to handle anything that might come their way. You will be a strong and reliable support to company operations, maintaining procedures, communication and customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) This is a safety sensitive position.*
  • Schedule outbound deliveries of product to jobsites and transfers to other locations and assign to local, backhaul and/or contract trucks. May also oversee delivery of inbound deliveries to the local sales yard or plant.
  • Communicate with customers, company associates and management regarding shipment of orders including service and shipping issues as well as complaint resolution.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Receives brick, stone and other masonry materials into inventory through the operating system.
  • Compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports and writes, types, or enter information into computer to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping or other records.

  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel (JDE experience preferred)
