Amentum is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate transport requests and schedule drivers. You will direct routing for trucks from 1½ ton to 26,000-pound tractor-trailer rigs and maintain driver contact to ensure timely deliveries.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen with a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and must obtain a Secret Clearance. HAZMAT and radioactive material movement training is provided.

Purpose and Scope: Position not-to-exceed (NTE) 30 June 2027 The Dispatcher receives calls via telephone or radio requesting transport services and schedules drivers to meet demand in a priority sequence. Maintains contact with drivers regarding their location, estimated arrival/return. Alerts drivers when urgent condition, HAZMAT or radioactive material needs transport. Coordinates receipt of proper permits and routing through Transportation Rate Specialists. Supervised by Group Manager or Team Lead.

Essential Responsibilities

• Directs routing for trucks from 1 ½ ton single axle to 26,000-pound tractor-trailer combination rigs.
• Keeps routing direction/map files to ensure driver scheduled pick up and deliveries are expeditious.
• Ensures permits for loads requiring them are obtained prior to driver picking up load and conveys information to driver.
• Monitors truck locations and movement through constant phone/radio contact to ensure delays are avoided.
• Reports and receives direction via radio or cellular phone.
• May be assigned to other work centers/tasks during periods of light demand.
• Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must have a current motor vehicle driver's license.
• Must have a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Minimum of six months specific experience which demonstrates knowledge required to perform duties of position.
• May substitute one year of specific experience for one year of high school.
• Must receive training for movement of HAZMAT and radioactive substances to ensure awareness of special permits required as requests for service are called in/received.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

Office or shop environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles and high-volume activity. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have full dexterity, and correctable vision. Outside work in hot and cold or wet weather is often required. Work environment often has fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is loud. Protective devices are required to avoid injury.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation Details: 24.55
