Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time Dispatcher II for the Public Safety Dispatch Center department. This position is for the second shift within UC Health, LLC.

The Dispatcher II will support the Public Safety Dispatch Center by delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, standards of care, and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Determine the nature and location of calls requesting public safety, fire, medical, or other emergency and non-emergency services.
  • Use computer-aided dispatch software (CAD) to dispatch, track, and monitor responses.
  • Receive and screen calls, collect information on crimes or emergencies, and relay to safety personnel.
  • Document critical information regarding the location and status of Public Safety units.
  • Exercise independent judgment to prioritize responses according to protocols.
  • Coordinate on-site activities of safety forces and notify outside agencies as needed.
  • Operate communication equipment including radios, telephones, and computer systems.
  • Monitor alarm systems, closed-circuit cameras, access control, and weather alerts.
  • Work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree.
  • APCO Basic Telecommunicator certification required within one year.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 6-10 years of experience.
