Job Summary

The Dispatcher manages routine and emergency field activity through effective real‑time scheduling to ensure safe operations, maximum margins and superior customer service. All Dispatchers work on rotating schedules. A Dispatcher handles emergency related communications through various applications to ensure safe operations for all parties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct routine service activity. Manage work and resources via load leveling to ensure the timely completion of compliance and appointment‑based work. Support all field resources and office personnel via phone calls, IM, radio, and emails. Generate proper service‑order based communications from both field and office resources. Monitor PA1Call tickets, phone calls, and emergency orders in a timely manner. Clear communication with fellow dispatchers and dispatch administrators when discussing day‑to‑day operations, any dispatcher handovers, and checking with next day work.
  • Answer off‑hours phone calls from all UGI customers. Answer calls from 911/EMA centers and public utilities to facilitate emergency and incident response. Call customers if appointments are in jeopardy of being missed due to emergency response.
  • Supervise and direct emergency field activity. Utilize all tools and applications to properly adhere to our Company’s Emergency Response.
  • Accurate and timely entry of all relevant data pertaining to our callout database, emergency order log, matrix events, manual order entries, and any emergency event timelines. Assist fellow dispatchers if the workload is high along with filling required open shifts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong supervisory and internal and external customer contact skills.
  • Strong organizational and creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Requires a high degree of quick independent judgement decision making.
  • Ability to direct field resources to respond to high priority incidents.
  • Ability to plan and adjust quickly based on changing weather, customer needs and available manpower all while focusing on public and employee safety.
  • Ability to supervise and direct area personnel in remote locations under stressful conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Mobile Dispatch, UGI Mainframe, SAP, Intellishift, SIAS/Digtrack, PA1Call, LiveOps, ESRI, Emergency Log, Callout Database, ARCOS, and all Central Dispatch applications.
  • Strong PC skills including all forms of Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of UGI distribution system, local EMA/911 personnel including police and first responder response procedures, area callout procedures, PA PUC regulations including Chapter 56 and Act 201, emergency response procedures for operations and gas control staff, DOJM work management system/SAP and a sound understanding of all municipalities in all the UGI service territories.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year experience in gas utility operations, or dispatching/scheduling experience preferred.
