Krapf School Bus is seeking a Dispatcher for our Glenmoore, PA Location.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This office position assists in the development and implementation of district-wide school bus schedules for transporting students to and from school in the safest, most cost-effective, and time-efficient manner. The role includes preparing accurate state reports to ensure appropriate financial reimbursement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assists in the development and maintenance of bus schedules for all students, utilizing computerized transportation routing and student database systems.
  2. Acts as the primary contact for scheduling of special needs students and reviews the need for all aides on buses.
  3. Maintains communication and positive relationships with contractors, principals, and parents, using diplomacy, tact, and discretion to ensure the daily transportation of students and to determine student needs.
  4. Possesses strong geographic knowledge of the School District and surrounding areas.
  5. Assists with field inspections of bus routes, stops, and student loading zones to evaluate safety and efficiency.
  6. Processes and responds to mail and calls related to transportation.
  7. Helps develop and maintain a monthly calendar of school closings, early dismissals, and late openings for various school programs.
  8. Assists in maintaining transportation software, overseeing student, school, and mapping data.
  9. Prepares transportation reports for state submission to secure subsidies.
  10. May be required to drive school buses or vehicles in emergencies or district needs.
  11. Maintains availability for snow/emergency calls as needed.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Contract Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one year of related experience in public school transportation.
  • Knowledge or prior work experience with routing software is preferred.
  • Deep geographical knowledge of districts, routes, stops, schools, and roadways.
  • Computer literacy, including database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and professionalism in handling difficult situations, being firm, fair, and consistent.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • A valid commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement or willingness to obtain one.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and physical exam certifications as required.
