Job summary

Ohio CAT Rental Store, a division of Ohio Machinery Co., seeks a dispatcher to coordinate high-volume delivery/pick-up of rental equipment and oversee the Cat Rental Store fleet routing. You will plan time-sensitive deliveries, manage permits, track logs and inspections, and ensure DOT compliance for drivers.

You will also quote deliveries, code freight invoices, and collaborate with customers and internal teams to optimize operations across local and national routes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years’ experience in equipment or trucking preferred or equivalent experience in trucking required.
• Three years’ experience dispatching delivery drivers required.
• Knowledge of oversized load permit rules and regulations required.
• Knowledge of GPS technology is a plus.
• Previous leadership experience is a plus.
• Familiar with MS365 and Windows applications as well as iOS mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch vehicles for high-volume delivery/pick-up of rental equipment.
• Monitor driver routing for efficiency.
• Plan for time-sensitive deliveries and pickups.
• Oversee permits for deliveries and pickups.

JOB SUMMARY:

The dispatcher will collaborate with customers and internal employees as needed to efficiently and effectively dispatch vehicles assigned to the centralized dispatch operation for the purpose of high-volume delivery/pick-up of rental equipment. This position will monitor routing of drivers to ensure efficient use of the Cat Rental Store delivery fleet. It will be part of the daily flow of work to plan for time-sensitive deliveries and pick-ups, oversee ordering of permits for deliveries and pickups, track driver logs, track pre-trip inspections and ensure DOT compliance by keeping record of medical cards and CDLs for all drivers. The dispatcher is responsible for quoting deliveries and pickups for equipment and freight both locally and nationally. This individual will oversee proper account coding of all outside freight invoices and send to accounts payable in a timely manner. It is imperative to understand permit rules and regulations to ensure compliance with the Department of Transportation always.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
