First Student, Inc. in Stoughton, MA is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate daily bus operations, support on-time performance, and guide drivers and monitors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily routes, driver assignments, and bus scheduling.
• Help ensure routes are covered and operating on time.
• Counsel, coach, and provide frontline support to drivers and monitors.
• Handle heavy telephone and radio traffic in a calm, professional manner.
• Receive scheduling concerns and driver complaints and report them to the supervisor.
• Serve as a primary liaison with Stoughton Public Schools.
• Communicate route delays, issues, and changes to contacts.
• Provide solutions to student drop-off and pick-up concerns.
• Assist with charter reservations, billing, payroll, or related admin tasks.
• Perform backup driver duties or miscellaneous clerical responsibilities.
• Complete assigned special projects and support day-to-day operations.
• Maintain dispatch logs, route information, and operational records.
• Support compliance with company policies and safety requirements.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hours: 10 working hours per day
Status: Full-time

Dispatcher Responsibilities

• Communicate route delays, service issues, and schedule changes to the appropriate contacts
• Provide solutions to student drop-off and pick-up concerns
• Assist with charter reservations, billing, driver payroll, or related administrative responsibilities when assigned
• Perform backup driver duties or miscellaneous clerical responsibilities as needed
• Complete assigned special projects
• Assist with the supervision and coordination of day-to-day transportation operations
• Maintain accurate dispatch logs, route information, and operational records
• Support compliance with company policies, safety expectations, and applicable transportation requirements

Dispatcher Experience and Skills Required

• Three to five years of relevant experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous transportation, terminal operations, dispatch, or professional driving experience
• Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional while managing multiple priorities
• Ability to deliver results under time constraints and deadlines
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Computer literacy and the ability to work with email, spreadsheets, and transportation systems
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for 10 working hours per day
