SUMMARY:
The NDOT Dispatcher position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Customer Service skills are valuable as well as the ability to operate a computer and multi-task. The primary function of a dispatcher will be to assistance requests for NHP and the freeway service patrol. direct/dispatch effectively and strategically. Our goal is to assist with motorist and NHP that need assistance in a timely manner.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate well with customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSIndividuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require sitting for prolonged periods. May require walking primarily on a level surface periodically throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds on occasion.
WORK ENVIRONMENTFor the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. A safety vest is required to be worn, when not in dispatch area.
