Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Dispatcher to manage bus dispatching, route on-time performance, and coaching for drivers and monitors. The role involves heavy phone and radio traffic and acting as the primary liaison with major contracted customers.

Qualifying candidates have 3–5 years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and strong communication and customer service skills. DOT safety compliance is required and prior dispatch experience is preferred.

  • Oversees all routes and scheduling of buses

  • Takes all scheduling and driver complaints, report to Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager
  • Serves as primary communication liaison with major contracted customer
  • May handle charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll
  • Provides solutions to drop-off and pick-up problems
  • Handle back-up driver duties or perform miscellaneous clerical duties as needed
  • Completes assignment of special projects
  • Assists with supervision of day-to-day operations

Pay Rate: $25.16 per hour

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.

  • Little or no travel required, but meeting with local customers may be necessary.

This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications be conducted in English.
