Job summary

Job description

Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for utilizing residential blueprints to complete load calculations, duct designs, and material takeoffs to determine spend and material required to complete HVAC installations for residential new‑construction homes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints and CAD drawings to create HVAC load calculations and designs.
  • Estimate the amount of materials and cost of labor to complete the installation of HVAC systems in new residential homes.
  • Communicate directly to each division’s sales and administrative teams when necessary.
  • Return all necessary information back to the assigned division in a timely manner to continue with the bid process.
  • Communicate all internal issues or questions to the team leader or Estimating Manager.
  • Forecast the needs of materials per each blueprint.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic CAD operating skills.
  • Ability to learn and operate estimating and load calculation software efficiently.
  • General computer competency, including a minimum of one‑year experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work overtime with little notice; weekend hours may occasionally be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift or move up to 20 pounds frequently, perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, or crouching, and stand, walk, or sit for long periods. Must hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or sounds to operate office equipment safely. Must have adequate vision for close and distance work and be able to type using a keyboard or numeric keypad. Must use arms and hands to reach overhead, signal, grab, hold, lift, turn, push, and pull objects and tools.
