Position Summary

Working under the direction of the Clean Water Program Director, the Salt Watch Coordinator will coordinate the League's Salt Watch monitoring program. This includes volunteer and partner recruitment and retention, test kit creation and distribution, and developing advocacy materials to engage volunteers in collaboration with local partners to facilitate smarter salting in communities.

Responsibilities
Salt Watch Volunteer Coordination and Partnership Building
  • Recruit, equip, and support members, partner organizations, and community volunteers as Salt Watch partners and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and conduct events across the U.S. to promote the Salt Watch program and foster partnerships.
  • Develop advocacy resources for volunteers and partners, including sample letters and media kits.
  • Manage the purchase, collation, and distribution of Salt Watch kits nationally.
  • Maintain communication with volunteers and partners to support efforts and build a network.
  • Establish formal partnerships for collaboration and fundraising.
Data Management
  • Compile Salt Watch data weekly from Water Reporter and other sources.
  • Input data into databases and GIS tools to analyze trends.
  • Support volunteers with data management and communication tools.
Communications
  • Create content for websites, social media, and publications.
  • Serve as liaison among members, volunteers, agencies, and the national office.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to promote Salt Watch data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in volunteer coordination and water quality monitoring.
  • Experience working with diverse partners and community outreach.
  • Public speaking and training skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
Physical Demands
  • Work involves outdoor activities, physical exertion, and office work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate office equipment.
  • Must be able to travel and perform essential functions in various environments.
Compensation

This full-time position offers a salary between $40,000 and $42,500, along with health care, leave, retirement, and other benefits. Salary depends on experience and qualifications.
