Job summary

State of Louisiana is seeking a State Police Dispatcher to respond to requests from enforcement officers and the public, operating telecommunication equipment and CAD software. This entry-level role requires handling radio traffic, answering calls, and coordinating responses statewide.

In this position, you will work a rotating shifts schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. You will be expected to maintain accurate records, adhere to policies, and ensure timely dispatch and escalation

Qualifications

  • Six months of experience transmitting and receiving messages by radio or in administrative services.
  • Six months of training in a business/clerical curriculum in a business school or technical institute.
  • Fifteen semester hours of college training.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to informational requests by officers/agents.
  • Receive, analyze, prioritize, and respond to general public complaints and inquiries.
  • Alert officers/agents, dispatch to location, and relay information.
  • Search, enter, modify, and delete records for vehicle registrations, licenses, and other data in the state database.
  • Maintain desk logs and proper record keeping during communications.

Skills

Six months of experience in radio comm

Education

Six months of training in clerical curriculum
Fifteen semester hours of college training
