Job Summary:

The Community Utility Associate performs various food service functions, maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of community food services, facilities, and equipment. Responsibilities include washing dishes, pots, and pans, cleaning equipment, managing food storage, and removing garbage. The role requires leaving machinery clean and dry and floors tidy after each meal.

Responsibilities:
  • Follow the posted work schedule, arrive on time, and wear appropriate attire.
  • Properly wash china, flatware, glassware, and kitchen equipment, including managing machine rinse pressure and water temperature.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and assigned areas.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and residents.
  • Be familiar with food-handling procedures and regulations.
  • Operate kitchen appliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine.
  • Assist with food preparation, inventory, and maintenance, including food deliveries and shelf stocking.
  • Follow all emergency and safety procedures.
  • Report injuries to the Community Cook or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the shift.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and report any changes in residents' health immediately.
  • Maintain good attendance, notify supervisors of absences or lateness, and adhere to work schedules.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Some kitchen experience is desirable.
  • Basic knife skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
Miscellaneous:
  • May work weekends and holidays.
  • May work shifts other than the original schedule.
  • Extended hours may be required.
  • Exposure to infectious waste and diseases may occur.
  • Must be in good health, free of communicable diseases, and able to handle emotional situations with residents.
  • Background checks, drug tests, and possible social media or video recordings may be required.
