Job description

Job Summary:

Dishwasher at the Fluno Center, a Hotel and Conference Center known for its Culinary Excellence. This position rinses, washes, sanitizes and stores dishes and utensils, primarily by operating a dish machine. The dishwasher also receives and stores all incoming inventory and assists the Chefs with other tasks throughout the day.

Responsibilities:
Performs dishwashing and dining room set-up related tasks to ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation requirements, rules, and regulations.
  • 70% Operates a dishwashing station and associated equipment
  • 10% Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas to ensure adherence to safe food quality, handling, and sanitation processes and procedures
  • 10% Shelves and organizes (stockroom, warehouse) inventory
  • 5% Moves and maintains equipment and furniture for dining events
  • 5% Assists student employees and provides training as needed

Additional Information:

The Fluno Center for Executive Education and Conference Centers are part of the Wisconsin Union operation and support continuing education and campus conferences. The Fluno Center serves as a premier conference and lodging resource for continuing education, campus conferences and visitors. The Fluno Center includes 100 guest rooms, classrooms, and dining facilities. Conference Centers provides high-quality conference services, including lodging, audiovisual, catering and registration services for roughly 65,000 unique attendees for events and meetings.

The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.

Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy.
