Position

The Press Hotel in Portland, Maine, newly owned and managed by EOS Hospitality, is seeking a Dishwasher / Steward to join their team of hospitality professionals at Union restaurant.

Job Summary
  • Complete opening task lists to prepare for daily operations, washing, drying, and putting away items remaining from the prior evening.
  • Wash, dry, and put away items throughout the shift using hand washing with a three‑bay sink and a commercial dishwasher, handling plates, bowls, platters, flatware, glasses, cups, pots, pans, sheet trays, and culinary tools.
  • Ensure the kitchen is fully stocked with dry, sanitized plates, bowls, flatware, and cups.
  • Assist with minor food prep or plating as directed by the culinary leader.
  • Properly handle all kitchen equipment as assigned and clean it carefully.
  • Remove all waste and recycling from the kitchen area, dispose in proper receptacles, and keep exterior waste storage areas clean and tidy.
  • Remove or store filled soiled linen bags.
  • Remove trash and cardboard from kitchen areas.
  • Organize and put away deliveries using food‑safe practices (FIFO) and inspecting quality of product.
  • Restock linens (hand towels, rags, aprons).
  • Maintain an organized and sanitary work station at all times.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors daily.
  • Assist with assigned cleaning tasks such as deep cleaning refrigerators, stoves/ovens, dry storage areas, hood vents, ice machine, and deliming dish machine.
  • Restock kegs and CO₂ beverage syrups.
  • Communicate any chemical ordering needs to the manager if supply is running low.
  • Communicate or log any breakage.
  • Complete additional side work and deep cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Responsible for closing duties including shutting down equipment, draining the dishwashing machine, turning off lights, and securing the area.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Exercise conscious knowledge of food allergies and appropriate sanitization to avoid cross‑contamination.
  • Follow additional daily and weekly cleaning guidelines, and deep clean when able and as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a team‑focused attitude and encourage collaboration.
