Job summary

University of Missouri - Columbia’s Campus Dining Services seeks a Food Service Worker I to set up the dish machine, oversee washing operations, and help maintain a clean, safe work area on campus in Columbia, MO. The role includes leading student workers, delivering high-quality customer service, and supporting training activities while adhering to health and safety standards.

This position follows a steady Sunday to Thursday schedule with evenings; benefits are included as part of University

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (e.g. 40 pounds).
• Good physical health.
• Some knowledge of and experience in basic food preparation, service, and/or sanitation methods and a desire to provide high-quality customer service are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up the dish machine and, if applicable, the pot-and-pan washing station.
• Direct, help train, and assist student employees in the dishwashing and pot-and-pan washing operations.
• Disassemble and clean/maintain the dish machine.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and secure working area.
• Provide high-quality service to customers; assist in meeting the department’s customer service objectives.
• Help the department constantly improve and reach its vision (commitment to excellence and passion for people).
• Assist with sorting and securing all food items, paper goods, and other items.
• Complete required training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
