Job summary

Madero Cantina in Downtown Fullerton, CA is seeking a motivated Dishwasher / Kitchen Assistant to join our fast-paced restaurant and bar team. You’ll help maintain a clean, organized kitchen, support smooth operations, and contribute to a high‑quality guest experience through strong teamwork and reliability.

Located in Historic Downtown Fullerton, we offer competitive hourly pay ($17.00–$19.50) with opportunities to grow in food prep and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. (18+)
• Experience in kitchen sanitation, food service, or prep is preferred
• ServeSafe or California Food Handler certification required or obtainable

Responsibilities

• Wash pots, pans, utensils, glassware, trays, and other kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas (floors, tables, walls, refrigerators).
• Segregate and remove trash, restock supplies for next shift.
• Assist in food prep tasks such as washing, chopping, and organizing ingredients.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Support servers and kitchen staff with serving, cleaning, or stocking duties.
• Complete opening, side work, and closing duties to keep the kitchen ready for service

The Role

• Wash pots, pans, utensils, glassware, trays, and other kitchen equipment efficiently and thoroughly
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including floors, worktables, walls, refrigerators, and other surfaces
• Segregate and remove trash, and restock supplies for the next shift
• Assist in food prep tasks such as washing, chopping, and organizing ingredients as directed by kitchen staff
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Support servers and kitchen staff with serving, cleaning, or stocking duties to facilitate guest service
• Complete opening, side work, and closing duties to keep the kitchen organized and ready for service

Requirements And Skills

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
• Previous experience with kitchen sanitation, food service, or prep work preferred
• Must have or be willing to obtain ServeSafe or California Food Handler Certification
• Understanding of basic food prep and kitchen operations
• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Friendly, professional, and team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
• Ability to lift, carry, or pull heavy objects, including overhead lifting
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
