Job summary

A leading recreational club in San Jose seeks a Kitchen Cleaner responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in kitchen cleaning and a State Food Handler Certification. GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc. through machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures that the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine
  • Sort and stack clean dishes. Carries clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering.
  • Change dishwater in dish machine every hour
  • Wash pots, pans and trays by hand
  • Remove trash and garbage to dumpster
  • Set up or break down dishwashing area
  • Clean and roll/unroll mats
  • Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions
  • Sweep/mop floors
  • Assemble/disassemble dish machine
  • Sweep up trash around exterior of facility directly adjacent to Food & Beverage department and garbage dumpster
  • General restaurant cleaning as directed
  • Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry
  • Notify manager any time dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures
  • Never touch clean dishes after touching dirty dishes without washing hands first
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate
  • Active participation in events, programs, meetings and training
  • Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow through and response
  • Schedule varies and may require weekend and holiday hours, days and evenings

Skills & Knowledge

Ability to read/understand, analyze, and interpret general training manuals, professional journals, or technical procedures; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from children, managers, Associates, members, and the general public.

Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of kitchen cleaning experience preferred
  • State Food Handler Certification
  • Professional, friendly manner and excellent customer service attitude and abilities
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player
  • Self‑motivated, takes initiative, anticipate the needs of others and willing to acquire new skills
