Job summary

The Fire Society, LLC in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood is seeking a Dishwasher to support kitchen and event operations. You will unload, clean, and store service ware and equipment, report to the Dishwasher Supervisor, and contribute to a safe, efficient work area.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • 1–2 years experience as a dishwasher in a professional kitchen.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, wash, and dry all service ware, cookware, and equipment according to protocol.
  • Return all service ware and equipment to the correct locations in kitchen or warehouse.
  • Keep the dish area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with cleaning ovens, floors, backsplashes, bathrooms as assigned.
  • Unload catering equipment and boxes from company vehicles safely.
  • Help load out events as assigned.
  • Monitor proper sorting of landfill, recycling & compost; dispose of refuse per building protocol.
  • Communicate with coworkers to ensure proper cleaning and storage.
  • Check in with supervisor at end of shift about completed tasks.

About the Job

The Fire Society, LLC (TFS) is composed of 3 active hospitality brands: Foxtail Catering and Events, Radish, and Tonic Beverage Catering. The dishwashers at TFS are incredibly crucial to the successful operation of the company as a whole. At TFS, the Dishwashers are responsible for the timely unloading, cleaning, and storage of all equipment and service ware. This position reports to the Dishwasher Supervisor and the Warehouse Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Clean, wash, and dry all service ware, cookware, and equipment according to protocol, while also ensuring the proper use of equipment such as the dishwasher.
  • Return all service ware, cookware, and equipment to the correct location in the kitchen or warehouse.
  • Keep the dish area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with the cleaning of ovens, floors, backsplashes, bathrooms, etc. as assigned.
  • Unload catering equipment and boxes from company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner as assigned.
  • Help load out events as assigned.
  • Monitor the proper sorting of landfill, recycling & compost. Properly dispose of company refuse in large American Industrial Center dumpsters according to building protocol.
  • Actively communicate with coworkers to ensure proper cleaning and storage protocols.
  • Check in with the supervisor at the end of shift to communicate what was and was not finished during the shift.
  • Always follow personal safety and food safety protocols.

Requirements
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • 1 – 2 years experience as a dishwasher in a professional kitchen.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work on feet for up to 8 hours or more.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Must have an active email address that is checked regularly. Must be able to receive and respond to email communication from the company.
  • Must be proactive with exceptional organization, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and hard-working.
  • Must be able to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Must be a team player with a 'can do' attitude, who is flexible and adaptable, with an outstanding attitude and an understanding of the big picture.
  • Must arrive enthusiastic, friendly, and well-groomed in the proper dress code.
  • Must take direction well and not be afraid to ask questions.
Required Certifications
  • Valid California Food Handlers Certificate
