Job summary

Lambs Farm in Libertyville, IL is seeking a dependable Dishwasher for the Magnolia Café & Bakery. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen by washing dishes, cookware, utensils, and equipment, while supporting the daily operations.

Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you will work alongside adults with developmental disabilities, providing encouragement and guidance as they develop workplace skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in dishwashing, food service, custodial work, or commercial cleaning preferred.
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English regarding safety, sanitation, work assignments, and operational needs.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining productivity in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or move materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with assistance or equipment when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Wash, scrub, and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, cookware, and other food service equipment.
• Operate the commercial dishwashing machine according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect cleaned items for cleanliness before returning them to service.
• Organize and store clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and supplies in designated areas.
• Clean and sanitize sinks, shelving, dishwashing equipment, and surrounding work surfaces.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dishwashing area throughout each shift.
• Sweep and mop floors in kitchen, dishwashing, and assigned work areas.
• Empty garbage and recycling containers, replace liners, and maintain waste disposal areas.
• Train and support participants in dishwashing, sanitation, and organization.
• Model safe work practices, professionalism, teamwork, and respectful communication.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff, café employees, supervisors, and participants to maintain efficient operations.

Summary

Your work will help ensure efficient food service operations while contributing to meaningful employment experiences for the individuals we serve.

The Role

• Wash, scrub, and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, cookware, and other food service equipment
• Operate the commercial dishwashing machine according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines
• Inspect cleaned items for cleanliness before returning them to service
• Organize and store clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and supplies in designated areas
• Clean and sanitize sinks, shelving, dishwashing equipment, and surrounding work surfaces
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dishwashing area throughout each shift
• Sweep and mop floors in kitchen, dishwashing, and assigned work areas
• Empty garbage and recycling containers, replace liners, and maintain waste disposal areas
• Clean and maintain restrooms, lobby areas, banquet rooms, hallways, and other assigned spaces
• Respond promptly to spills and other sanitation or safety concerns
• Assist with general kitchen cleaning, housekeeping, and organizational tasks
• Receive, move, and store deliveries and supplies in designated locations
• Monitor and replenish dishwashing and sanitation supplies
• Communicate equipment issues, sanitation concerns, and supply needs to the Kitchen Manager
• Support special events, banquets, and periods of increased business activity
• Assist in training and supporting participants in dishwashing, sanitation, organization, and other workplace skills
• Model safe work practices, professionalism, teamwork, and respectful communication
• Collaborate with kitchen staff, café employees, supervisors, and participants to maintain efficient operations.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is $15.00 per hour
