POSITION SUMMARY

The Dishwasher plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in our assisted living facility's dining area and kitchen. This position involves efficiently cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans used during meal service. The Dishwasher ensures proper handling and storage of cleaned items, assists in kitchen cleanup, and follows established safety and hygiene protocols. This role also contributes to a positive dining experience for our residents by supporting the culinary team in delivering exceptional meals. The Dishwasher's efforts directly contribute to the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents and help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. This position reports to the Culinary Director.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

In addition to all components of the above position summary the following “Essential Duties and Responsibilities” are essential to successful performance in this position.

  • Operate industrial dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization of all items to meet food safety standards.
  • Follow established procedures for proper handling, washing, and storing of cleaned items.
  • Assist culinary team members by maintaining a steady supply of clean dishes and

equipment during meal service.

  • Support kitchen cleanup by removing trash, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining overall cleanliness.
  • Maintains upkeep on all kitchen equipment, ensuring that weekly/monthly cleaning schedules are maintained.
  • Adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking and/or serving, as directed.
  • Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Follow proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals to prevent accidents or contamination.
  • Stocks serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas with necessary dishes and utensils.
  • Communicate effectively with culinary team members regarding dishwashing needs and priorities.
  • Interact courteously with residents and staff, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Respond to resident requests and special dietary considerations in a helpful and accommodating manner.
  • Cleans trash receptacles with water or steam.
  • Moves dishwashing supplies and equipment from storage to work area by hand.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Credentials

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
  • Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified)
  • Special skills needed to meet client needs [California Code of Regulations Sections: 85065(f)/87411(g)]
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification or must be willing to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Must be able to workdays, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
  • Restaurant experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The incumbent for this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods walking or standing.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and wipe frequently.
  • Must frequently immerse hands in water.
  • Must be able to work in a hot and damp environment.
