Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Discovery Paralegal in Washington, DC to support the Department of Justice with legal document reviews and eDiscovery processes. Responsibilities include coordinating with eDiscovery counsel, conducting privilege reviews, and providing timely support across various divisions.

The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in paralegal work, expertise in eDiscovery platforms, and must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance. A comprehensive benefits package is offered, including health insurance and tuition reimbursement.

Job description

What You Will Do

Guidehouse is recruiting Discovery Paralegals to support the Department of Justice and guide our customers through complexities related to data proliferation and eDiscovery. The team performs legal document reviews, follows standards, uses electronic review platforms, and conducts peer reviews to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.

Key duties include:

  • Coordinate directly with lead eDiscovery Counsel on current and future matters, reviewing workflows and policy across agencies.
  • Conduct legal privilege and responsiveness reviews using Adobe Pro and other platforms such as Relativity, Everlaw, and Clearwell.
  • Work with attorneys and IT support to make data discoverable as new technologies arise.
  • Provide professional, timely support across the Office of the General Counsel, operational and administrative divisions, DOJ, and other agencies.
  • Research and gather material responsive to requests, including outreach and informal interviews.
  • Provide weekly status updates to Assistant General Counsels and stakeholders.
  • Analyze documents and media, applying redactions to privileged information.
  • Coordinate classification reviews with subject matter experts.

Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) clearance; candidates with an active TS or higher are preferred.

What You Will Need
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a federal or DoD Top Secret clearance prior to onboarding.
  • At least 2 years of paralegal experience, including eDiscovery with platforms such as Relativity, Everlaw, Arctera, Exterro, Disco, Reveal, Nextpoint, and performing privilege and substantive reviews.
  • Successful completion of a Paralegal Studies Certificate.
What Would Be Nice To Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in legal studies or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • 1+ years of progressively responsible privilege review experience.
  • Experienced reviewing electronic and paper materials for privilege, including redaction.
  • Working knowledge of eDiscovery platforms and ability to identify responsive documents.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office.
  • Experience researching with Westlaw, PACER and drafting responses.
  • Excellent organizational skills and maintaining detailed case records.
Salary

The annual salary range is $65,000.00–$108,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on skills, experience, clearances, licensure, certifications and business needs.
